Cosmopolis Project

For this 10th edition, the COSMOPOLIS Project brings together 10 video installations created by artists in rooms at the Hôtel West-End, one of the most prestigious hotels on the Promenade des Anglais.

Over the course of a weekend, each artist creates an artistic and scenographic installation in his or her room, taking into account the relationship with the public. The COSMOPOLIS Project is an opportunity to showcase artists who are rarely presented to the general public, in an unprecedented context of experimentation.

Each proposal is supported by foreign cultural institutes, foundations and international art centers.

The COSMOPOLIS Project was initiated in 2021 under the aegis of Ficep (Forum des Instituts Culturels Étrangers à Paris, which brings together 55 foreign cultural centers and institutes), today it is also unfolding thanks to the commitment of Foundations or cultural institutions working from Africa, Asia and the Americas.

Selected artists: Loukia Alavanou (Hellenic Cultural Center), Ivan Argote (Colombian Embassy), Guy Betouene (Laboratorio), Tõnis Jürgens (Estonian Cultural Center), Ethel Lilenfeld (CWB Centre Wallonie Bruxelles), Mariya Nikiforova & Martin Molina Gola (Cultural Institute of Mexico in France), Yvon Ngassam (Yaounde Photo Network), Jean-Julien Pous (Korean Cultural Center) Alex Sirus (Carbon Résidence).

The OVNi COSMOPOLIS Jury is chaired by Jean-Paul Felley, art historian and curator, director of the Biennale du Son and EDHEA. He will be joined by Ismaïl Bahri, artist, Agnieszka Gratza, art critic, editor, publisher, Marco De Mutiis, Digital curator, Fotomuseum Winterthur, François Fauchon, collector, director of the Centre de Haute Energie (CHE)

The OVNi COSMOPOLIS project is supported by CHE – Centre de Haute Energie de Nice. The winner of the prize selected by the jury will receive €5,000 in creative support.

Sud Emergence Project

In 2024, for the 10th edition, Le Sud extends from the Provence-Alpes-côte-d’Azur / Monaco region to Occitanie!

The OVNi SUD – Emergence Prize is part of the festival’s ambition to stimulate and support new creation in all forms of moving image. This year, 10 projects have been selected by the OVNi team and the Circle of Friends, to be presented in 10 rooms at the Hôtel Grimaldi, with the support of the HappyCulture Group.

OVNi facilitates encounters between artists and professionals through organized visits and convivial moments with people in charge of the management or conservation of art centers, collections, curators and critics, and gallery owners.

The OVNi Sud Émergence Jury is chaired by Christine Van Assche, art historian, curator and initiator of the Centre Pompidou’s New Media Collection.

Joining her are curator Alexia Abed, Stéphanie Ayraud, director of the MAC Marseille, Sally Bonn, author and art critic, Marie Cozette, director of the CRAC Occitanie, and Jean-Marc Prevost, director of the Carré d’Art de Nîmes.

The Prize is supported by the Cercle des Amis d’OVNi. The winner receives a €2,000 creation grant and a one-month writing residency.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday November 30 at the Théâtre National de Nice, in the presence of Murielle Mayette-Holtz, actor & director of the TNN, with the collaboration of the TNN troupe.
