For this project, my aim is to recreate the unique atmosphere of a child’s bedroom in the middle of the night, when sleep is interrupted, and reality begins to blur. This is the moment when, in the darkness, sounds and images become distorted, and indistinct shadows appear at the edge of the imagination.

To bring this sensation to life, I will use dollhouses, painted white, as projection screens. AI-generated and animated images will be projected onto these surfaces, accompanied by distorted sounds, to recreate this mysterious and sensory-distorted atmosphere.

Lazzaro

Lazzaro is a video installation on cathode-ray TV. It originated in 2009, during the earthquake that struck the Italian region of Abruzzo. It focuses on a small mountain village that has now become a red zone: Fossa. We visited the ruined home of the Lazzaro family, frozen in time since the disaster.

The video is punctuated by shots of a notebook in which the daily accounts of what appears to be a greengrocer are listed. The note-taking comes to a screeching halt on the fateful day of April 06, 2009, when the inhabitants were forced to leave the premises. The soundtrack is its reading.

“In Sanctuaire d’un sang neuf, she takes over a slaughterhouse rehabilitated as a contemporary art center, the 109 in Nice, devoid of any memorial space reminiscent of its former function. In a performance, she seeks to recreate the past atmosphere of this place steeped in fear and suffering. Striking the walls with her bare hands, she projects herself into a trance-like state, reliving the panic of the animals, the sound of their hooves against the ground and the metal fences as they wait to be put to death.”

This work recounts my journey from the Gers to Monaco, my two homelands, a route I travelled
many times during his childhood. This journey, undertaken in the wake of my father’s death, is akin to an inner pilgrimage, a therapeutic quest into my memories.

An inner pilgrimage, a therapeutic quest into my memories. Along the way, I assemble and disassemble a module representing my bedroom. I record the ambient sounds of each place I pass through, revealing a multitude of soundscapes. The contrast between these varied environments and the implicity of my wooden structure creates a certain absurdity and incongruity. The room that was once once a symbol of confinement becomes a laboratory for sound exploration and recording, offering me a creative escape to new horizons.
