This video presents a still shot of a woman’s eye in which a blaze grows endlessly until it occupies almost the entire pupil. At times, the fire calms down, almost disappearing but never going out. It fluctuates randomly. It seems to have a life of its own. In the background, a window is reflected on the cornea in the manner of the witches’ mirrors of 15th century Flemish painting. This loop outside of time and narrative plunges the viewer into a kind of meditation in front of the filmed object. I like to play with the codes of objectivity of the photographic image, the precision and neutrality of the point of view and thus open up imaginary spaces in the order of reality.
